Meal Replacement Shakes… Good or Bad?

Many of you probably heard that meal replacement shakes don’t work because once you stop using them; you’ll gain back all the weight that you lost. You may also think that they are an unhealthy way to lose weight or the taste is not that pleasant. There is some truth in all of that; however, if done right, meal replacements can be an excellent way for you to lose weight and body fat permanently while improving your health as well.

When you’re dieting for weight and fat loss, you should be eating 5-6 times a day in order to keep your metabolism running and to fuel your body with the right nutrients. However, often times you might be too busy and getting all 5 or 6 meals might be a little more difficult than it sounds. This is where the meal replacements come to the rescue!

The right meal replacement shakes can be extremely effective in aiding your weight/fat loss goals as well as make it much easier. For example, if you’re the type that’s in a hurry in the morning and tend to skip breakfast, a shake would help you jumpstart your metabolism after a good night’s rest and stabilize your blood sugar levels. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day because it is the biggest window of opportunity to boost your metabolism. Missing breakfast will most likely cause you to binge eat later on during the day, which will lead to possible weight gain.

With the right shakes, you can start your day with a nutritious meal and provide yourself with nutrients your body needs. When your body gets the right nutrients, you will feel more energized. If you depend on coffee to give you that boost, try substituting that with a healthy and nutritious breakfast for a few days and see how your energy levels are affected.

Lisa Lynn, an expert on Dr. Oz’s panel that contributes to his blog, also endorses meal replacement shakes as a good way to lose those extra pounds. You can read more on her article on Dr. Oz’s blog.

After reading all of that, you might have some questions as to which shake is good and which is not? C3 Fitness recommends a protein shake that can be turned into a meal replacement with some added calories to them. The name of the product is called, Vi-Shake—and it literally tastes like cake mix! One serving alone contains 30% of your daily vitamins and nutrients, making it a very balance shake. Add in some fruits or good fats to the shake and you have yourself a nutritious breakfast for the day. For more info on the shakes, you can check it out here: Vi-Shakes

One of my favorite recipes turns the shake into a Reese’s Pieces delight—incredibly delicious!

In a blender, add:

  • 8 oz almond milk with 5 ice cubes
  • 5 ice cubes
  • 2 scoops of Vi-Shake
  • 1 tablespoon of all natural peanut butter
  • 2 teaspoon of organic unsweetened cocoa powder
  • Blend and drink yourself to a sexy body!
